The most important thing on growth curves is how your baby grows over time. If he's small but growing at the appropriate rate, there's usually no cause for concern. ||During the day, don't try to catch up on chores while the baby sleeps. Lie down and rest ||Presumably, your baby won't recall events from his life before age 3. Still, these early experiences outline his vision of the world ||Contact the doctor if your newborn isn't gaining weight, wets fewer than six diapers a day or shows little interest in feedings ||If you have trouble emptying your breast, apply warm compresses to the breast or take a warm shower before breast-feeding ||Your baby's foot may seem flat, but that's because a layer of fat covers the arch. Within two to three years, this extra padding will disappear. ||Trim your baby’s nails weekly after a bath when the nails are softened ||If every feeding is painful or your baby isn't gaining weight, ask a lactation consultant or your baby's doctor for help ||Reflux is common in newborns. Most babies outgrow reflux between the time they are 1 and 2 years old ||Make sure the highchair has a wide base, good fit, adjustable secure straps. Consider a post between the child's legs. ||
Newborn Care

The basic advice after delivery is to concentrate on breast feeding. It should be exclusive breast feeding, given on demand without restriction. If your full term newborn sleeps for more than 4 hours, you should wake him/her for feeding.

Another important advice is to watch for neonatal jaundice i.e. the yellowish discoloration of the skin and eyes of your child. This happens normally in 50% of newborns. However, when it does happen it is wise to measure the level of the jaundice (bilirubin level) to make sure it is within the physiologic levels and follow it if necessary. To help reducing the level of the jaundice or to prevent it even, we advice frequent breast feeds + exposure of the baby to the sun in the early morning or late afternoon.
