Infant constipation is the passage of hard, dry bowel movements — not necessarily the absence of daily bowel movements ||Toddler's appetite may change almost daily. Let her be the judge of how much she needs and wants to eat. ||Your toddler may be clumsy simply due to her trials to master so many new physical skills at the same time. The more active she is, the more likely she will drop things, run into things, or fall down. ||The more you help your toddler put his feelings into words (“I’m mad. I want the truck.” “I’m sad. I can’t find my bear.”), the less they will show aggressive behaviour. ||Massaging infants' arms and hands can significantly reduce their pain from needle sticks ||The only acceptable punishment for our children is time-out. No spanking, no shouting and no threatening ||Only close friends and relatives should visit you during your first month at home. They should not visit if they are sick ||Excessive warmth and overdressing are as harmful as cold weather. Temperature inside your home should not exceed 23 degrees ||Trim your baby’s nails weekly after a bath when the nails are softened ||Don’t rush into solving your kid's problems. Give him the chance to conclude, all on his own, that things are going to be okay. ||

• It is a physiological phenomenon due to spasmodic contraction of the diaphragm.
• it is mostly not a Warning sign for any critical illness which usually stops spontenuously.
• it is frequent in children and is usually more tolerable by them compared to the adults.
• it might interfere with breast feeding as the baby will stop suckling during Hiccup.
• It is more common with overfeeding or air swallowing with teat use.

Tips to stop Hiccup

  • The baby should be held in an upright position with gentle rubbing of his back
  • Drinking a small amount of warm water usually helps
